Citing an Interview
Published February 4, 2021. Updated August 15, 2021.
To create an interview reference or citation, you will need to know the name of the person interviewed, interviewer’s name, date of the interview, and title of the interview.
The templates and examples below will show you how to cite an interview in MLA style, APA style, Chicago style, and Harvard referencing style.
Easily cite an interview in the style of your choice using the Chegg Writing citation generator.
Citing an interview in MLA style
If you personally conducted the interview, a Works Cited citation only needs the last name preceding the first name, the words “Personal interview,” and the day, month, and year of the interview. In this case, the name, the words “Personal interview,” and the date are all followed by periods. If you did not conduct the interview, follow the guidelines below.
In-text citation template and example:
(Interviewee Surname)
(Ambani)
Works cited entry template and example:
Interviewee Surname, First M. “Title.” Interview by First M. Surname. Interview Day Month Year, URL.
