The origin of life on Earth is explained to have occurred in the hot vents in the ocean bottoms when the pre-historic Earth was covered mostly by oceans. The conditions of pre-historic Earth were conducive for chemical reactive events as powered by the energy obtained from the Ultra Violet (UV) and lightning. Also, the oceans at that time were concentrated with reactive organic molecules, known as the ‘primordial soup’.
The presence of abundant reactive organic molecules and energy sources in the prehistoric Earth had driven random molecular associations that resulted in the formation of molecules that are essential for life.
The formation of molecules essential for life on Earth was explained primarily by A. I. Oparin. This was substantiated by experiments conducted by several researchers of whom, the pioneers were Stanley Miller and Harold Urey whose famous experiment is known as the Miller-Urey experiment.
